What is Accelerated Free-fall?

Accelerated Free-fall (AFF) for the thrill seeking individual looking to progress/learn to skydive solo and gain a full skydiving licence.

Our learn to jump solo programme begins with 6 hours ground tuition which starts at 8am. Before you can start jumping – we will teach you how! The tuition covers safety aspects, the equipment you will use, exiting the aircraft, control in free-fall and how to control and land your parachute system. There is a multiple choice test that you will be expected to pass. On completion of the ground tuition, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to start our 18 jump course.

Course Progression

  • Level 1- you will jump with 2 instructors. You will follow a planned sequence to demonstrate good body position and altitude awareness, along with 'practice pulls' to locate your deployment handle. You'll pull your own parachute and fly back to the landing area, with guidance from your instructors by radio.

  • On levels 2 and 3 you still have 2 instructors, but we expect to see an improvement in body position and awareness. On level 3 you should be able to demonstrate control so that both instructors can release you to fly on your own!

  • Now that you've satisfied us that you have the required control in freefall, on level 4 you will have just 1 instructor jumping with you. On this jump the objective is to start and stop controlled turns in both directions

  • Level 5 reinforces the turns, with any improvements from the previous jump. Your instructor may add other freefall exercises depending on your performance.

  • On level 6 things get really fun! This is your first solo exit from the aircraft; on all previous levels your instructor is holding onto you for the exit. Next you will do a backloop to show your instructor that you can regain stability after a tumble. Then we introduce tracking which is horizontal movement across the sky - now you really are superman!

  • Level 7 is about putting everything together - therefore you'll demonstrate a full sequence of solo exit, backloop, tracking and turns. During the jump you'll need to demonstrate altitude awareness and control throughout.

  • Level 8 is what we call a 'hop and pop' - leaving the aircraft at an altitude of around 5000ft. You'll do a stable exit and pull your parachute after a short delay therefore simulating having to exit in an emergency.

  • Consolidation jumps (often called "consols") are the 10 solo skydives a student must complete after finishing AFF Levels.

LEARN TO SKYDIVE WITH READY2SKYDIVE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL

I Have Never Jumped, Is The Tandem Skydive the First Jump

Without any previous experience, you can start your AFF course right away. The course is designed for beginners and you will be taught all the necessary requirements in the ground training prior to jumping in order to feel secure and confident about your first jump.

I Have Already Done Static Line Jumps. How Can I Convert This Towards AFF?

Previous experience with static line jumps definitely will help you while training AFF as you are less nervous and prepared for a good plane exit position. There are some parts in the ground work which you need to learn and you will go through the same process of the AFF program as other students. If you have jumped static line before, please contact us regarding possible conversion to AFF.

SKYDIVING COURSE INFORMATION

When Do Student Courses Start?

We are pretty flexible and can run the ground training most days, if you are booking alone we can suggest already existing ground training dates so you can join other students, learning is always better with other people. Pick your best suitable dates for your trip and confirm them with us.

What Do I Need To Bring To The Course?

As we will provide you with all the necessary rental skydiving material (jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, altimeter), please make sure to bring comfortable and sportive clothing and shoes. Trainers are preferred for jumping. During the short winter (although temperatures are never that low in Seville), we also recommend to wear long sleeves and to bring some warm gloves, scarf, hat etc for the time in between jumps. If you wear glasses, bring your sporting glasses or lenses. If needed you can wear your glasses during the jump, we can provide you with skydiving goggles to wear on top of your own glasses.

How Long Does the AFF Course Take?

The duration of the course depends on each individual while each student sets his own pace for the jumps and depends also on other factors like weather, sunset times, condition etc. However, the average duration to finish the complete AFF course is app. 3-4 days. In another 2-3 days, all your needed solo jumps (consolidation jumps) can be managed as well.

Am I Likely To Repeat a Level Jump?

Not necessarily as there are many students who pass the course and its seven levels within seven jumps. However on average, students tend to repeat one of the AFF levels.

Can I Use My Money Paid For the Full Course Towards My Repeat Jump?

You have paid in advance for the AFF Basic Course for the discounted price. You cannot use some of that money towards any necessary repeat levels. Please come with a small amount of contingency money for any possible repeat levels.

COURSE COMPLETION INFO

When I Finish My AFF Course, Do I Get My License Right Away?

Finishing and passing the AFF Course does not make you eligible for the A-license right away as this would be a later hurdle requiring more skills. We have the qualified instructors to help you gain your British Skydiving A license (BS)

What Are Student Consolidation or Solo Jumps?

Once you have been graduated from your AFF Course, you are still officially a “student in consolidation status” being supervised by an instructor. During the next jumps which you will do on your own, there are still some skills for you to learn and to perform while receiving learning aims and feedback of your previous AFF instructor on each jump. During those 10 solo jumps you will gain more confidence and routine before working on the next step of your skydiving career: the A-license.

What Happens If I Do Not Finish My AFF Course?

In case you are not able to finish your AFF Course for whatever reason, the remaining jumps of the course can be finished at a later date, however, please make sure you are aware of our currency requirements laid out in your AFF Course Manual. The unused AFF Level jumps will be credited and will be on hold for a timeframe up to one year (12 months) after booking, although the currency requirements are strict, they are for your safety.
